Walgreens knows that signage is critical to the success of its nationwide business, and they meticulously manage their programs for maximum efficiency.
To boost the cost effectiveness of sign maintenance, Walgreens reduced their list of service providers from over 200 to only 9. This change meant that one Walgreens administrator would oversee the maintenance of 5,000 stores, each with 10 letter sets.
The client now required sophisticated management assistance, online order processing and reporting, and lightning-fast response time from all suppliers.
The Solution
Walgreens relies on Icon to deliver on-call sign-maintenance services for approximately 2,500 locations nationwide-more than any other provider.
Icon also provides skilled program management, working directly with store managers to ensure clean, functioning signs. And we support internal teams by obtaining approval for and installing sign packages.
As we do for all our clients, Icon generates weekly summaries for Walgreens, providing both solid detail and an opportunity to recognize broader trends. These reports provide management with constant access to key information, such as types of outages, repair times, costs, and other tailored account-analysis data.
In each new location, Icon delivers timely, phased implementation of signage that is designed to create awareness and generate traffic:
- 120 days before opening: Coming Soon banners
- 90 days before opening: main pylon signs with working message boards
- As soon as construction permits: wall signs to establish presence and give store a finished look early on
Walgreens has also authorized Icon to conduct ongoing night surveys, enabling us to recognize and fix any issues-often before the store manager is aware of them.
