At Icon, we strive for sustainability in everything we do—from the services and products we provide for our clients to the way we operate internally.
Green Practices
Icon currently takes part in the following eco-friendly practices:
- Recycling used lamps, ballasts, transformers, plastics, shipping containers, boxes, and packaging
- Employing a fleet of trucks that run on ultra low sulfur diesel: a much cleaner burning fuel which helps reduce particular pollution
- Reducing airline travel and promoting web meetings to help lower our carbon footprint
- Purchasing recycled shipping products
- Including a statement on the bottom of all employee e-mails that asks the recipient to consider the environment before printing
- Distributing recycling bins to all desks and offices
- Using green cleaning solvents and chemicals
- Sending and receiving faxes electronically
- Sending and receiving more invoices via e-mail
- Recycling printer cartridges
- Purchasing office equipment with the Energy Star logo
- Providing employees with a reusable beverage cup rather than disposable cups
Green Initiatives
Icon continues to work toward improved sustainability. Current initiatives include
- Investigating the use of solar panels for lighting commercial signage
- Updating our website to provide more environmental education, including tips for energy conservation and pollution reduction
- Becoming ISO 14000 compliant
- Transitioning more cleaners and chemicals to natural or organic products
- Joining www.carbonfund.org, www.liveneutral.org, or www.terrapass.com to help us become carbon free
- Reducing computer energy usage from 250 to 5 watts per desktop with a PanaLogic box
