Success Story: Home DepotThe ChallengeHome Depot was in the midst of a retrofit program, replacing red neon in its signs with red light-emitting diode (LED), a technology that lowers energy costs by up to 80% and greatly reduces the need for maintenance.They were working with several sign and electric companies, but these vendors were not meeting cost and time objectives. The SolutionIcon was already providing maintenance services for more than 1,200 Home Depot sites through its IMS division. Because of our strong maintenance performance, Home Depot approached us about the retrofit program.One site at a time, Home Depot began involving us in the work. And 6 months later, they awarded Icon the bulk of the program. In addition to providing improved sustainability through LED lighting, Icon teams operate in an environmentally responsible way: we remove neon tubes with gas intact for recycling or proper disposal.
