Success Story: Home Depot

The Challenge

The original Home Depot tag sign was costly and complicated to service: several trucks were required for repairs, which added expense and hindered customers from entering the facility.

Home Depot needed to promote a positive brand image at all times, which would require a change in signage strategy: they aimed to remove tagline signs and use the additional square footage for a larger version of their core branding element.

The Solution

The Icon program management team began by surveying the existing site, determining field conditions, and developing a proposal for client review.

To expedite implementation and obtain maximum identification, our in-house permit department submitted plans to the local municipality and oversaw the entire permit approval process.

Once approved, Icon manufactured new signage to maximize brand impact at the store front. We also managed all aspects of the field work in order to minimize disruption of customer traffic.

The implementation process included
  • Wall repair
  • Patching
  • Repainting
  • Installation of new elements
  • Removal and disposal of old signage in an environmentally sound manner

Icon completed all these steps within a 3-day work window.

The Result

The new, larger Home Depot signage maximized brand visibility. And conversion from neon to LED created substantial energy savings, cutting client costs while supporting green initiatives.

Icon continues to refresh existing Home Depot facilities nationwide at a rate of approximately 150 sites per year.
